Donald "Kook" Shean passed away on January 24, 2026, after a long illness. He died with his family by his side at home in Westfield. Don was 80. He was a retired construction worker with the Laborers Local Union 596. He was the son of the late Daniel Shean and the late Mary (Baker) Shean. Don was born in West Springfield, MA, on July 15, 1945, and was the youngest boy of 11 siblings.
He leaves behind his wife, Roz Shean of Westfield; his twin sons, Bradford Shean of Westfield, Jake Shean and his wife, Jennifer Shean, who reside in Texas. He also leaves a stepdaughter, Lauren LeBlanc of Oxford, CT, and six grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Don cherished his lifelong friends, who he considered his extended family: Ron and Ann Colter, Rudy Kallock, David Clark, Donald Clark, and Mike Delaney. Their reaching out to Don during his illness brightened his days.
As a lifelong New England sports fan, he rarely missed a Red Sox, New England Patriots, or Boston Bruins game.
